St. Anthony Junior-Senior High School has a rich tradition of successfully preparing and graduating its charges to post-secondary institutions across the United States and abroad. During just the last 15 years alone, Saint Anthony grads have enrolled into an amazing 169 different 2-year and 4-year colleges in 32 different states and Canada, New Zealand, Japan and Thailand. We are proud of the fact that many students who leave Maui for college eventually return to serve as dedicated community leaders and servants, while raising families of their own.
As part of its commitment to preparing young men and women in the Marianist Spirit so that each may fully realize their many gifts as part of dynamic and interrelated local and global communities, Saint Anthony provides an individualized college guidance program. We offer the following services in order to meet our students’ needs with respect to the college and career planning and admissions process:
- Access to Naviance, an internet tool for college planning and admissions, for every student.
- “College Night” meetings open to all students and parents, covering a variety of topics.
- Hosting several different college representatives throughout the school year.
- A “Financial Aid Night” for parents of seniors.
- Scheduled individual meetings with all seniors and juniors.
- College planning tips and “to-do” lists for sophomores and freshmen.
- Individual meetings with students and with families as requested.
- Contacting college admissions counselors directly on behalf of students.
- Partnering with our English Department in providing College essay writing guidance for seniors.
- Working with a college planning course to provide hands-on college guidance support.
- Letters of recommendation for students’ college and scholarship applications as requested.
- Information and guidance on full range of post-high school options, including 4 year colleges, community colleges, technical and vocational programs, and the military.
- Maintaining and constantly updating a current list of scholarships available for our students.
- Availability to students’ parents and guardians by phone, email and individual meetings.
- Partnering with our Student Activities Department to sponsor our annual school “career day”, while bringing career speakers to school as appropriate and possible.
- Helping interested students access standardized testing support (i.e tutoring for the SAT and ACT exams) via Naviance and other reputable sources.
